Yup, just tacky. I read Clarkson’s comments and thought they were pretty much the same. He obviously didn’t expect to be taken seriously (how could one take such an unreflecting man seriously?). I deplore the thoughtless use of language, but I wouldn’t want to ascribe any importance to it (or him).
