No images but pictures are great
The identity of the person who said that they preferred radio to TV “because the pictures are better” has long since passed ito obscurity. However, whoever they were, they would have been delighted with one of the results of the terrible storms in the American Midwest. Amongst other things the storms caused power outages resulting in the temporary suspension of photo sharing site, instagram.
The result was a flurry of amusing tweets from around the world describing what the tweeters would have photographed had they been able to. Some examples follow:

I know I’m biased, and I have a vested interest, but I love to see people playing with words. Whenever I train people in storytellling I ask them to write a description of a sunset and then put it away until the following evening. If the words don’t evoke the scene – then I simply encourage them to keep on trying it until they do.
Keep those instagram word pictures coming – you might even find you prefer making pictures with words!
