One of us
I suspect that no-one (including me) has this on their list of top 10 Christmas songs. However, the simple lyric of this song is right at the heart of the Christmas message. What if God were one of us? A young girl, a fearful fiance, a group of socially excluded shepherds and a trio of star-gazing misfits all had to answer it first time around. The first time I heard this song I had to stop the car, pull over and write down the title just to make sure I could buy it.

What an amazing song this is even after all these years it’s still has such a poignant message and sounds great still. Brings back memories. the Bible says as much as you have done this to the least of these you have done it to me so God is actually saying that he is everyone because if you treat people well then you are treating god well but if you’re treating people badly then you are treating him badly too
