The Church is fond of linguistic ghettos. We forced Latin on ourselves for most of our history. We force Victorian jargon on many of our congregations today. But the language flow is both ways. More and more songs incorporate contemporary slang and ways of speaking. The fact is Jesus probably spoke the Aramaic of his day as well as Hebrew and probably Koine Greek. To reach all people, the Church must be resolutely multilingual.
