Out of curiosity; do you also admire Muslims who are equally willing to die for their God? They have the same certainty in their religion – and while, generally speaking, they may be more inclined to take others with them – the principle of faith is just the same.
It just seems to me that, in the above quote, the man is lauded for his certainty, and little more. Some people are wholly convinced that they’ve been abducted by aliens – but as I’m sure you agree, their personal conviction isn’t good enough evidence for anyone else. What is the difference, then, when a God is involved? Why is faith held in such high regard here, when in any other context, it’s clearly gullibility?
