We are me
This morning I came across a post on ChurchMag entitled “I can be googled therefore I am”. The writer goes on to suggest some other truisms such as :
– we are friends on Facebook, therefore we are friends.
– you are in my Google circle, therefore you are in my circle of friends.
To read his other provocative points you will have to read the full post

Taking this a little further, I tried the “googlewhack” game – where you put in a search term to see if you can achieve just one hit. If a search under my name brings up 179000 results in 0.31 seconds (even if many of them refer to someone else) – what does that say about me?
Is it digital schizophrenia all over again?

I am speaking on John 6:56-69 on sunday and I noted that Jesus was never afraid to loose followers…even though it looks like some just misunnderstand him. My own reaction to loosing ‘followers’ or ‘friends’ seems quite different, even though I am only an occasional tweeter. Thanks for the thoughts and the link.
Interesting question. Important to bear in mind that Jesus was talking about real flesh & blood followers. Sometimes our emphasis on online “friends” may actually the word.
