Only words…

Can you hear them?

I spend a lot of time here, on Twitter, in a pulpit and elsewhere banging the drum for the importance of words. Communicators of any hue, in any sphere, must learn to combine them in ways which keep creativity alive and enable wholehearted communication from one human being to another. When I asked the question ‘who needs words‘ last year – it was rhetorical. We all do.

Take a careful look at the advert below (you will need to click on it so see it properly). It comes from American audiology company soundcommunication. There are no graphics to speak of. There is no celebrity endorsement. There are no hyperlinks or qr codes to open a trap door to something more interesting. There are just 61 words, and by the time you have read half of them the advert’s point has been made. Not only that, but this is synaesthetic advertising – creating an auditory sensation through a visual experience. Hats off to the Red Lion agency in Canada who came up with it.
